What is a Job Coach?

A job coach's role may be different for each person

A job coach can help you be successful at your job by helping you:

know the transportation routes to get to work on time

learn the company policies and procedures during orientation at a new job

know your break times

learn strategies, tools and tips for successful and safe performance of your job

build confidence and encourage you to do well

adjust to changes at work, such as new duties, new supervisor or new equipment

build a working relationship with you supervisor

The job coach is NOT your supervisor but a temporary aid to help you understand your responsibilities and rights in the workplace.

Sometimes job coaches help from a distance in helping you role play how to get approval for holidays or to complete forms for workplace benefits.

You can use a job coach in the same way as a professional athlete or a movie star uses a coach to help them succeed .
