| What is a Job Coach ? |
A job coach's role may be different for each person
A job coach can help you be successful at your job by helping you:
- know the transportation routes to get to work on time
- learn the company policies and procedures during orientation at a new job
- learn strategies, tools and tips for successful and safe performance of your job
- build confidence and encourage you to do well
- adjust to changes at work, such as new duties, new supervisor or new equipment
- build a working relationship with you supervisor
The
job coach is NOT your supervisor but a temporary aid to help you
understand your responsibilities and rights in the workplace
- Sometimes
job coaches help from a distance in helping you role play how to get
approval for holidays or to complete forms for workplace benefits.
- You can use a job coach in the same way as a professional athlete or a movie star uses a coach to help them succeed
